03. THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART - S/T

Its difficult to look past that name isnt it? But behind the cooler-than-thou Topman band name is a beautiful pop album recalling some of the best late 80’s/early 90’s indie and shoegaze while sounding whimsically unaware of the whole scene. TPOBPAH bounces along with youthfull enthusiasm bringing you along for the ride and dropping you off at Teenage Sweetheart drive. The 3 hit punch of Come Saturday, Young Adult Friction and This Love Is Fucking Right grabs you from the start and by the time Hey Paul lets out its last few joyous chants you feel brand new again. Both on record and live Pains are a force to be reckoned with. A fantastic debut.
