06. THE FLAMING LIPS - EMBRYONIC
The most unexpected comeback album this side of Journal For Plague Lovers. Not in the fact that The Flaming Lips would make another great album but more that they wlould develop their style further from the albums that made them (Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi). Embryonic is a monster two disc package with guest appearances from indie rock elite like Karen O and MGMT and some of the most bizarre and outlandish songwriting since Zaireeka. Embryonic is completely in a genre of one and after two decades of flipping the script, The Flaming Lips show they are still not scared of change and come out looking wholly original.
